HAND BRUSH METHOD Technique Pollen is applied with a number 4 art brush to the center of the blossoms. The brush should be wrapped with thread or string about a half of an inch from the end of the bristles, then cut off the bristles so that just one quarter of an inch remains beyond the thread. this makes the brush easier to target and conserves pollen. The pollen should be carried in a small container. Dip the brush into the pollen, then tap the edge of the container to jar loose any excess pollen from the bristles. Apply the brush to the center of six to eight flowers. Use whatever spacing that you desire for your crop. Before returning the brush to the pollen container, wipe it off so as to dislodge any pollen that may have been picked up from the variety that you are pollinating. |
